This will be the last post I write about T. I didn't want to leave you all hanging.
The long and short of it is, since my last update, T still hasn't shown. My hope is that he got the help he needed from some place else; or maybe he never really needed the help to begin with. These are the things that I'm hoping, praying that he and his brother are well and fed and out of trouble.
My friend R, the one who was going to help make specific arrangements for T, has assured me that one of the two above scenarios are really pretty likely. Meanwhile, I'll keep my eyes peeled in the neighborhood still, and hopefully one day our path will cross T's again.
Thanks to your generosity, I haven't been able to walk into my office for the past few weeks. Trevor and I talked and decided that we had done all we could, and that all that food wasn't doing anyone any good just sitting in our basement. So we packed it all up--weeks worth of food--and we dropped it off with R. She works for a non-profit that helps families in need, and she said she had a specific family in mind who could really use all we had collected. It made me happy to know that our efforts weren't in vain. Someone, someone who needs it, is going to get a big blessing on their doorstep. And I liked that R already had a family in mind; it's not just going to some stock somewhere. It's going to be used and appreciated.
For those of you who sent donations, I had held on to the funds until I knew more of what T needed. I've emailed each person directly, and each one of you has insisted that we send the money to someone else who needs it too. If I work with the Denver Rescue Mission, the donations are enough to feed an additional 35 people!
I think T will be on my heart and mind for a long time to come. I hope you'll keep him in your prayers. But regardless, it makes me smile to think how we all came together, we hoped to meet a need, and we did. It wasn't the need we saw initially, but it really turned into something bigger. Thank you for that! You are all good, good people.
